Demons dominated the round 12 team of the week after their stunning victory over the Cats in Geelong.
Big man Max Gawn pushed Eagle Nic Naitanui out of the number one ruck spot, although "Nic Nat" still earned a bench position after his best-on-ground performance against Richmond.
The third bench spot might've otherwise gone to a Hawk such as Isaac Smith, Liam Shiels, Josh Gibson, or David Hale.
Only one Hawthorn player made this team of the week, but that's a testament to the club's ability to rely on team performance, rather than standout individuals.
If Hawthorn had lost to Adelaide, however, Crows Rory Sloane and Scott Thompson would have definitely laid claim to a spot. Kangaroo Nick Dal Santo was also unlucky after collecting 31 disposals against the Giants.
Yet despite the high numbers, Dal Santo didn't provide the same spark, class, and impact as veteran Brent Harvey.
Similarly, Bulldog Tom Boyd kicked four goals against the Lions, but Eagle Josh Kennedy had more impact on the result (and against a tougher opponent, too) with his three goals against the Tigers.
Check out the team of the week for round 11.
